1 · Compare ordinary and p-adic distance

Add 1, then p, then p squared, and continue with higher powers. The totals grow under ordinary distance but settle toward a limit under p-adic distance.

Try this. Increase the number of terms for several bases. Compare the growing ordinary error with the shrinking p-adic error, then read the limit shown below the picture.

The browser calculates both errors directly. The Python tests repeat the calculation with exact fractions. In base two, the p-adic limit is minus one.
